Dr. Amy Wendell
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Amy Wendell is a clinical psychologist based in Russell, Manitoba, where she has been in private practice since 2019. Her work is rooted in compassion, resilience, and a deep respect for the communities she serves.
My Path to Serving You
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, I moved to Canada with my family in 2016. My journey has taught me resilience, the importance of community, and that “home” is something we create together. As a mother to two boys and a partner to a psychologist-turned-beekeeper, I understand the ongoing work of balancing care for others with care for oneself. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy photography, singing harmonies, yoga, travel, and learning guitar. I’m deeply grateful to serve this community, both professionally and personally.
Professional Experience
Dr. Wendell’s clinical journey spans diverse settings across the United States and Canada, including children’s treatment centres, correctional facilities, and university counselling centres. She completed her predoctora internship and post-doctoral training at Montana State University and later worked with individuals experiencing complex trauma and substance use challenges at the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women.
From 2007 to 2016, she served as Assistant Director at Bellarmine University’s Counselling Centre, where she grew deeply as a therapist, supervisor, and outreach leader. In 2019, she established her private practice in Manitoba’s Parkland region, where she continues to support individuals and families with care and intention.
